Can M-Commerce Ever Take Over E-Commerce?

Google Android, which was released by the Mobile Consumer Lab and Mind Commerce, claimed that they can re-create the success of Japan's "Wireless Ecosystem" model within the context and realities of international mobile markets. It claims that it can compete some other platforms such as Symbian, Windows Mobile and MontaVista. However, how many of us do really rely on a mobile phone to carry out business by using wireless or bluetooth or even 3G? Not to mention whether Google Android will be successfully accomplishing the goal by mid-2008 or not.

What makes e-commerce through mobile phone still not popular in the e-commerce world? Will it be able to compete with E-Commerce and overtake the E-Commerce, becoming the newest business trend around the world?

From my opinion, i do believe that people nowadays still rely much on the computer, or perhaps, they are more comfortable to be sitting in front of the computer, where they can check on their business status every minute and every moment while for mobile phone, only certain places where 3G or wireless is available, they can go online to check for their business status. It is less flexible and less convenient.

Another problem is the screen size of the mobile phone. How many percent of the mobile users will actually browse through some website through a small scre en of their mobile phone? Even with the screen size of a PDA's, it is still comfortable to look at the computer monitor. Survey had been carried out on how mobile user think about having WAP and results are shown below.

However, M-Commerce does have some advantages over the E-Commerce. For example, mobile ticketing can be carried anywhere with only one click on the mobile phone. Mobile also makes payment and banking system easier over the network as long as user can access to the network. With more mobile softwares introduce in the market, i personally do think that M-Commerce will be a successful in the coming years and it might take over the E-Commerce as well. So how do you think bout that statement?

Vostro Solution, Dell, Overcomes SMEs' Problems

Lately, the Small- and Medium-sized enterprise (SME) space has been the attraction of every Information and Communication Technology (ICT) firm. ICT firms are offering different kind of consumer solutions to help the SME to adopt the ICT solutions into its business operations. After successfully capturing the sizeable share in the consumer sector, Dell, introduced another SME-tailored suite of solutions, the Vostro. More information about this Vostro can be read from the Dell's site.

For SME that wish to adopt a comprehensive ICT solutions, they can consider the Dell's Vostro. By adopting this ICT solutions, it open a wider market place for SME to the world and to their supplier as well as customers. Even by having Dell Vostro in the company, it does not mean that it can overtake the business in a short time frame if the company only has a small IT team or not even having any of the IT team or department to take care of the ICT solutions.

In order to compete with larger companies or multi-national corperations, first the SMEs would have to overcome some of the problems. SMEs often seem to lack of IT support due to the expensive cost of hiring IT personnel . By adopting Dell Vostro and undergone some training, this problems can be overcame. Other than that, Dell's Vostro is not an expensive solutions for SMEs as they provide a reasonable price to adopt the ICT solutions. The main target for Dell's Vostro is the SMEs. Second problems might be lacking of IT literacy. However, Dell's Vostro is very easy to pick up the skill after some training. Even though employees might not be IT literate, they can still handle some of the easy jobs by using the Dell's Vostro.

More information about Dell's Vostro can be read from here. One of the homegrown company has adopted the Dell's Vostro after they have decided to move forward onto the international arena. They have transformed its old and traditional, but yet highly successful, operations into a hi-tech, world-class business.

But, is really Dell Vostro can support all the ICT solutions for an emerging company in order to compete with others? From my own opinion, i do think that it can, which the help from other software and hardware. More over, Dell Vostro is only a system which helps in implementing all the ICT solutions for a small- medium-sized enterprise. Without some help from the IT literate personal, even though the company purchase and install the Dell Vostro, it is just like another dumb machine for the company which carry out some normal task other than leading the company to another hi-tech company. Or how many of the Dell Vostro you need for your company just in order to get rid of your traditional business?
